The Battle Between the Underground and the Mainstream

This is a fight. Here is the deal: the cherished is the Underground. Everybody wants to be a part of something that they think no one else knows about. They want something unique and special. This gives them that same feeling. This is not bad, everyone wants to be a part of something exciting. Underground is excitement and energy. Underground is momentum.
That is the problem the very thing that makes the Underground what it is, is the very thing that will kill the Underground and convert it in to the extremely paradoxical thing called Mainstream. Momentum and energy naturally and obviously take on more of the same. More people are attracted to momentum and energy. And the more people that are added the closer we are becoming to the dangerous and despised Mainstream.
Mainstream is extremely funny. It is a paradox. Everyone hates Mainstream, or so you would think. But here is the thing: EVERYBODY loves Underground, thus making it virtually impossible for it to stay Underground. Everyone hates Mainstream, but yet everyone loves Mainstream, until they realize that it is Mainstream.
Look at MTV. What makes MTV great? The fact that EVERYBODY watches it. They continually sell the lie that they are Underground. That this band and that band are Underground. Everybody wants so desperately to be unique that they just join in with everybody else as soon as they hear that something is unique. Uniqueness is elusice, but ever-persued.
So how do we find uniqueness and Underground and keep it? Be yourself. Be who you are and as you pursue and discover that you will probably change more than once, thus keeping life novel and interesting - Underground!
