Camping

This view will be mine for most of the weekend, except for the snow.

Did you know that for every 1000 feet increase in elevation the temperature decreases an average of 3.6 degrees? So, for example, if in the Mile High city this weekend it is going to be abysmally hot, up around 100 degrees and I instead go up to Lake Dillon and camp, which is around 10000 feet. I will have increased my elevation by about 5000 feet. Therefore the temperature will have decreased by anywhere between 15 and 20 degrees. That puts my average daytime temp between 80 and 85 degrees while it is 100 in Denver. I like this equation.

As of approximately 3:00 this afternoon I will be sitting campside up in the Lake Dillon area. I will remain there for the duration of the weekend, returning to play softball on Sunday around 4:00 pm.

This trip is going to be a blast. I am going up with Generation Next, (see previous post) and am going to have a good time. There will be some mild Frisbee playing, mild hiking and major sitting in my camp chair.

This all said, I will not be in my online world for the weekend. So my blog will be quiet, Myspace friends neglected, MSNers ignored and finally emails unresponded to. I hope and pray that you will all be ok. I think you will pull through.

So to everyone, please enjoy your weekend. Check back here first thing Monday morning for some pics and a post or two about the trip. To those in Denver, SUCKERS! To my brother, wish you were coming. To my cat, don't eat Sean. And to the world, please have your pets spayed or neutered.
